I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's is a butterfly on a flower. I was enjoying playing with it so much I may have overworked it a bit.
I'm creating a drawing a day just for the art of it. Over 500 artworks by Kirsteen Lyons BA (Hons) textile designer and artist.

Halloween
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
I did this for fun, I hope you like it, but at the end of the day all art is personal, even the silly stuff, in short, I like it, so I don't really mind if you don't!
The more I share my art with others the more I find how very few people are really critical or cruel, and the less any feedback bothers me ether way. I recommend slinging you heart and soul out there, in more than ten years of trying to sell art and design to the public and industry I've had about three really mean tricks / comments. Nothing really.

La Muerte (Lady Death), Patron saint of Love, Fortune and taxi drivers!
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's is my face paint and face painting design. I hope you'll forgive me for using this as my drawing but I'm beat after taking the kids to a Halloween party.

Three skills
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's is three skulls which are going on my costume for Halloween / day of the dead.
I'm going as Santa Muerte (Lady Death) but what is making me chuckle is the list of things she is saint of includes both drug dealers and police, as well as bicycle couriers! Go figure!!!

Little Dinosaur!
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's is a very little Dinosaur (birds are decadents of the dinosaurs).

East Grinstead highstreet.
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's is East Grinstead highstreet.
This is a safe little town with a low crime rate, little poverty and easy access to green speces and I'm so bored of it I may commit town-oside and murder the longest row of Tudor houses in their sleep!
This is East Grinstead and up the road is Forest Row (which I am marginally less board of) if you count them both my life goes.
The Highlands, Scotland.
Edinburgh, Scotland.
Forest Row, England
East Grinstead, England
Southport, England
Liverpool, England

The Borders, Scotland
Pembry, England

Mayfield, England

Clearly I keep escaping and getting sucked back to Forest Row and East Grinstead. Please let me know if you have a cure!
This is yesterday's drawing - sorry.

Flowers from my husband for getting signed with a new design studio!
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, for no reason, for fun!
Today's are the flowers my husband got me for getting signed with a new design studio, it could be very cyclic as they will probably get used in a textile design!
This one is done in my tiny sketch book that comes - in my handbag - to London, Brighton, coffee shops etc.

Sibling rivalry night. Owl and lizard.
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
My brother and I have created " sibling rivalry night", we are going to draw together once a month.
My drawing is the owl, my brother's is the lizard. He got a six year head start on learning to draw but I now draw for my profession!

Abstract
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's is an abstract. I'm not sure it's any good, it's not something I usually do. Do you think it has worked?

Who is she and what is she doing?
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's is a woman with a sphere of some kind. Who is she and what is she doing? All ideas about this are valid!

Wax crayon and watercolour flowers
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
My daughter (who is eight) said about her painting, "You have to like it because if you hate, it that means you hate me." I understand, art is so personal, a little bit of your soul, but if you are going to show it to anyone, even close friends, you need to unlearn that. Art is personal to them too, that means what they like can be wildly different to what you do, even if you are very good. Whatever you do is valid regardless of others. And for the record, I love all my daughter's paintings but they, and she would still be good even if I didn't!
I have included my daughter's painting.

River landscape with directional pencil lines.
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's is a landscape where I have been careful to keep the pencil lines all going one way and then broken my rule on top.

Greenhouse.
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year because I don't want it to say on my headstone: "She fed her kids and kept up with Netflix!"
Today's is a greenhouse. I love greenhouses, such a mix of order and disorder. Orderly glass pains and riotous plants, rows of pots and uneven growth. Also they smell lovely and they are always warm. Victorian botanical gardens are my favourite but all greenhouses qualify for love.

Deer.
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Sometimes it comes easily, sometimes I struggle all the way but most frequently I start not interested and get drawn in until I'm very interested! So it was today.
Art is effective therapy with no side effects. A little are bringing a bit of happiness.

Tulips, my favourite flower. Blog over 20,000 views. Thank you!
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Thank you for all the views and comments! They warm my heart.
Today's are tulips. I think if you didn't already know I'm a textile designer this drawing might give you a hint. To me it's begging to be on fabric! You can see some textile design here if you like:

My girl, my star, and the moon she drew!
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's is my daughter. My children are the stars that light my universe, so I think they are endlessly interesting to draw. If you don't think so, you don't have to look! :)
My daughter joined in today and did a moon.

Running Horse.
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
I am on Day number 275 of 366 (it's a leap year).
Blog views 19902.
Today's is a running horse. I tried to keep energy and motion in the drawing.
I have this new Derwent Drawing kit which I'm experimenting with. I love it. I bought it because I was left unsupervised in the art section of a stationary shop for a bit! I've included pictures of the sketching set and my little test drawings in my diary. It was only £15 and as Derwent practically invented the pencil I would say it was a good buy if you want to get into drawing. :)
