I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.
Today's is a calligraphy butterfly, yesterday's concept, with a bit more of whatever it was it needed, probably giving a **it, I was pretty exhausted yesterday.
Also I had some excellent advice, a girl needs a master calligrapher to turn to in times of stress! :)
I'm creating a drawing a day just for the art of it. Over 500 artworks by Kirsteen Lyons BA (Hons) textile designer and artist.

Calligraphy butterfly
I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.
Today's is a calligraphy butterfly and dragonfly etc.
To be honest I don't think it's worked too well but I guess not all experiments will pay off.

Landscape from imagination
I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.
Today's is a landscape from imagination. For some reason all landscapes I do from imagination end up being Scotland!

Stained glass owl
I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.
Today's is a stained glass like owl.
I'm creating a drawing a day but I'm also a textile designer and I'm currently creating a furnishing fabric collection, every minute I could today I've been drawing, then I suddenly realised I still had not done my drawing of the day, drawing! So here it is, why owl? Why stained glass style? Because it's nothing like my collection and acts a a rest! :)

Human right number three.
I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.
Today's is Human right number three.
I'm not often a protest artist, usually I do pretty, but that doesn't mean I'm gagged or blind.
I've included a link to a simplified version of the human rights.

Fish
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's are carp.
I love them they are beautiful but not very nice to eat, especially jellied cold and whole, but if you guest with a Polish family at Christmas, and they go to the trouble of keeping live fish in the bath for a week, just to insure you get the local traditional food totally fresh, you find a way to eat it and smile!
I also don't recommend naming them when you decant them into a bucket to wash, it really does make eating them harder, for the record they all had good Scottish names like Jimmy and Jinty!

Rose, a present from my daughter!
I'm creating a drawing a day for the art of it.
Today's is a rose my daughter gave me, she's eight, sometimes I think children have trouble getting presents for their parents, they seldom have any money not given them by their parents and they are still trying to work out the adult world (good luck with that one!) But my daughter really aced it when she brought me a rose "For my drawing."

Today's is a pen drawing of Jasmine. It's not too good. I'm still sick and exhausted.

Pointillist poppy
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's is a poppy. Done in dots which is called pointillism.
(Actually it's yesterday's drawing as I was unwell).
Here is a bit of the Wikipedia entry on pointillism:
Pointillism /ˈpɔɪntᵻlɪzəm/ is a technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of color are applied in patterns to form an image. Georges Seurat and Paul Signac developed the technique in 1886, branching from Impressionism. The term "Pointillism" was first coined by art critics in the late 1880s to ridicule the works of these artists, and is now used without its earlier mocking connotation.

Printed roses
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's are roses. I have made a foam sheet printing "block" and printed two roses then worked into one of them. It's all done with Derwent Inktense ink blocks and inktense solid ink pencils.

Renaissance drawing recovered from attic after 500 years!

Printmaking.
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it, just the beauty of it.
Today's is some prints made with children's foam sheets.
I have included a picture of all my materials that shows how it was done if anyone is interested.

Hibiscus flower
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's is a hibiscus flower.
These grow so profusely in Malaysia, they remind me of looking at the stars from the south China sea and suddenly realising I couldn't pick out a single constellation, then I knew I had wandered far!
