I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it. I have done it!!!
To all my friends and family, I hope 2017 is the year in which you are true to your own goals and you make them into reality!
Thank you truly, from the heart for all the support and love this year. I have got so much out of it, so much communication from people all over the world, new ideas, new people.
I've got good a drawing things I used to wish I could draw. I've learned dicapline in spades, I've learned I can still work with sunstroke, sick kids or emotional turmoil, I've learned it always helps to draw! I've had thousands of wonderful comments.
On my textiles career l've signed with the studio I've wanted to work for since leaving university, and they LOVED my drawing a day project!
I've had NO negative feedback, no one has said I should not do it, or a do it too much, or badly, not one single person! People are amazing, and I've learned I can reach them, share my heart and my universe and they are not only interested but helpful too. Thank you every one of you. Kirsteen

For the benefit of all, benefit the small.
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's is a child and the world.
Sometimes the strangeness of the world we live in strongly occurs to me in the middle of mundane things. Today I was in a shop buying baby supplies and they had fluffy balls you can decorate your handbag with for £6.50. Water aid can put a pump to supply drinkable water in Nepal for £50. So I'm standing in the shop thinking, "I can have eight handbag decorations or fresh water for a village?"
I don't begrudge anyone pretty things, I have lots, and I design furnishing fabric and wallpaper for a living, but we have such a vast gap from first world to developing world and vaster still to third world...Anyway, I'm going to save up for a water pump.

#drawingadayclub #kirsteenlyonsart
I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.
Today's is a sketch of a young woman. Water soluble pencils form the inestimable Derwent, first time I've used them with water (rather than just as a pencil) and it's love at first draw!

Lion cub relaxing
I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.
Today's is a lion cub. This is done with Conte crayon. My dad and his friends were all wild for them at Glasgow art school in the 60s, to be like Rembrandt or something. They took a bit of getting used to but I'm starting to like them.

Political "choice"
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's is a political cartoon. It's a bit crumpled and crude but you get the idea. Look closely and you can see even the evil puppeteer is a number!
For the record, I believe in personal integrity, I believe in mankind, I think there is much hope for man - just not through one political doctrine or another.

My daughter's friends
I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.
Today's is two of my daughter's best friends, sisters one could give any one of us a lesson in generosity and the other throws herself at life with the force of two hurricanes! I think they are brilliant! I'm glad my little girl has some true friends.
They did their best to hold still, but I had to work fast so forgive me if they are no so like them.

A warrior lass! (Robin)
I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.
Today's is a robin.
Cute and pretty but don't be fooled, she is a tough little fighter, not just chasing off rival robins in her territory but sometimes taking on fights with other animals.

I'm creating a drawing a day, for a year, just for the art of it. Today is day 343 and I was up since 6:00 and completely uninspired and without motivation.
I appealed for ideas from my friends and was blown away by the amount of response and the fun, imaginative ideas! So much communication was in itself inspiring. Thank you. I feel like I have good ideas far into the future.
Also thank you Ryan for posting your photos for me to work from. They are all stunning.
Thank you all my friends, all your ideas are stunning.
Mixed media: watercolour paint, inktense pencils, inktense blocks, black pen, white pen, acrylic paint, practice!

I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.
Today's is the Hungarian hoses of parliament.
I was about 19 when I was here, it's not open to the public, but I was pretty cute back then, in a clueless way, I gushed about how lovely it is and they gave me a tour inside.

I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.
Today's is a calligraphy butterfly, yesterday's concept, with a bit more of whatever it was it needed, probably giving a **it, I was pretty exhausted yesterday.
Also I had some excellent advice, a girl needs a master calligrapher to turn to in times of stress! :)

Stained glass owl
I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.
Today's is a stained glass like owl.
I'm creating a drawing a day but I'm also a textile designer and I'm currently creating a furnishing fabric collection, every minute I could today I've been drawing, then I suddenly realised I still had not done my drawing of the day, drawing! So here it is, why owl? Why stained glass style? Because it's nothing like my collection and acts a a rest! :)

Fish
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's are carp.
I love them they are beautiful but not very nice to eat, especially jellied cold and whole, but if you guest with a Polish family at Christmas, and they go to the trouble of keeping live fish in the bath for a week, just to insure you get the local traditional food totally fresh, you find a way to eat it and smile!
I also don't recommend naming them when you decant them into a bucket to wash, it really does make eating them harder, for the record they all had good Scottish names like Jimmy and Jinty!
