Osprey and an art tip you can reject if you disagree!

I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it, and sharing an art tip too.

Art tip: Try not to tell people what to think (about your art).

I once did a painting of a wave, and sold it to a woman who loved it because it "reminded her of her grandfather in his rocking chair." Who knows what connections people make. I feel they are all valid, what others see in your art, the secret to selling art (or just showing it to people) is to shut up and let them make them, if you start explaining you may violate one of their ideas about your work, and since you are the artist, and must know, they get the idea they are wrong and no longer want your work! I've put plenty of people off by letting my mouth run, some even had their purse on their hand at the time! This goes double for excuses "It's not really finished because..." "It would have been better if..." DO NOT make excuses, ether don't show people or embrace their right to like it!

Lion cub relaxing

I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.

Today's is a lion cub. This is done with Conte crayon. My dad and his friends were all wild for them at Glasgow art school in the 60s, to be like Rembrandt or something. They took a bit of getting used to but I'm starting to like them.
