Edinburgh from the crags.

It's not true what they say "that the best thing to come out of Edinburgh is the last train to Glasgow!" Edinburgh is wonderful! It's just Glasgow is even more so! :)

I may have gotten a little carried away with the mixed media:
Pen, watercolour, watersoluable pencils, inktense pencils, inktense pastels and tipex!!!

This one is dedicated to my niece Katie, happy birthday!

Elephant drawing number 30

The latest work in my crazy plan to create a drawing every day for 2016!

I love animals, I have been drawing animals alli my life and it never gets old!

Calligraphy horse. Drawing number 29.

Technically calligraphy means beautiful writing, so really this is just a horse drawn with a calligraphy pen. Easy and quick to do, but I did spend most of my childhood practicing with calligraphy pens!

Kangaroo, butterfly, leopard, The Domo and cat!

On my mission to create a drawing every day for 2016, I have caught up! I didn't quite start on the first day of 2016. I now have a drawing for every day so far!

Why art on a luggage label? It's more of a why not?

Also I have included some stages for the kangaroo drawing. My daughter was with me when I took the photo I worked from. We were both amazed how close he let us get!

From Dragons to Dragonflies.

A drawing a day, why am I doing it?

I'm a planner, I have my whole year, and indeed my whole life worked out on paper (I often have to alter the small stuff but the big stuff stays) yet I decided to do the drawing a day idea on impulse! I'm finding out WHILE I am doing it WHY I am doing it!

It's not for commercial gain, I haven't worked out how to make it pay out money, but it does seem to be paying off.

  • It makes me draw and then I feel good.
  • It puts something solely for me in my day of nappies, a lot of laundry, and school runs.
  • Many of my friends seem to be following the results with enjoyment.
  • If I really keep it up all year my drawing is bound to improve.
  • I was inspired by Dominic Roberts doing it and some other artists I know have been inspired by me.
  • It adds a little to the general level of light in the world, something on your computer that is not bad news. X

Thank you, Kirsteen

You may have noticed I didn't start this on the first of January, so I'm catching up so here are four drawings!

Dolphin art!

Quite a simple drawing today as I have had to bounce the baby the whole time I did it!

I am loving the "drawing a day" dicapline as I would not have sat down to draw with splitting head, house a mess and baby still up except that I said I would do this! Then I do it and I feel better, creative, alive, useful!
