Osprey and an art tip you can reject if you disagree!

I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it, and sharing an art tip too.

Art tip: Try not to tell people what to think (about your art).

I once did a painting of a wave, and sold it to a woman who loved it because it "reminded her of her grandfather in his rocking chair." Who knows what connections people make. I feel they are all valid, what others see in your art, the secret to selling art (or just showing it to people) is to shut up and let them make them, if you start explaining you may violate one of their ideas about your work, and since you are the artist, and must know, they get the idea they are wrong and no longer want your work! I've put plenty of people off by letting my mouth run, some even had their purse on their hand at the time! This goes double for excuses "It's not really finished because..." "It would have been better if..." DO NOT make excuses, ether don't show people or embrace their right to like it!

Terrible experiment!

I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.

Today's was supposed to be a delicate Pegasus with mixed water soluble pencils and charcoal. It's a muddy mess and the original is worse than the photo! However I have decided to share it anyway to show not all experiments pay off, my dad has a wonderful expression for this; "Get it right in the next one." It immediately takes the attention off over worrying about what went wrong and starts to put your future art in the universe too.

My girl, my star, and the moon she drew!

I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.

Today's is my daughter. My children are the stars that light my universe, so I think they are endlessly interesting to draw. If you don't think so, you don't have to look! :)

My daughter joined in today and did a moon.

Running Horse.

I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.

I am on Day number 275 of 366 (it's a leap year).
Blog views 19902.

Today's is a running horse. I tried to keep energy and motion in the drawing.

I have this new Derwent Drawing kit which I'm experimenting with. I love it. I bought it because I was left unsupervised in the art section of a stationary shop for a bit! I've included pictures of the sketching set and my little test drawings in my diary. It was only £15 and as Derwent practically invented the pencil I would say it was a good buy if you want to get into drawing. :)
