Boat on a grey sea

I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it, and sharing an art tip too.

Today's drawing is a boat on a grey sea. I use only tone, if you have trouble with colour, you can do this to cut back the problem, but if you come back to colour, here is a tip to help.

Today's tip: This is the colour wheel, (picture underneath) the colour is arranged in the order of the rainbow or natural spectrum. Colours next to each other go together restfully, colours at opposite sides make each other look brighter and are called complimentary colours.

Boat

I'm creating a drawing a day, regards of how much sleep I get, or who is getting teeth! I'm not sure if that is good professionalism, or just nuts! #drawingadayclub

Ship, what a ship is...

I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.

Today's is a ship.

"Wherever we want to go, we go. That's what a ship is, you know. It's not just a keel and a hull and sails; that's what a ship needs. Not what a ship is. What the Black Pearl really is, is freedom." -Jack Sparrow in The Pirates of the Caribben: Curse of the Black Pearl.

We are going looking for this beach in 2019!

I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.

Today's is a beach on the Adriatic coat so it's firmly on the planned route for our year long trip round Europe.

Reasons to get rid of our stuff, make our jobs portable, and explore Europe in a camper!
Meet new people. More ocean in my life. More mountains. More time outside. Draw and paint from life. Learn new skills. Learn languages. Inspiration from new stimulus. Teach my kids to be self reliant. Educate my kids with doing and looking, not just listening and writing down. Spend less than we make. Less cooking (a little). Less cleaning. Less to regret missing when old. Stay active/ fit. Be more like my heroes. Get out of repetitive lifestyle. Quality time with my family. The kids spend lots of time away from screens and wifi. We collect adventures not clutter. Easier to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables, salad and fish. Shed middle class suburban ideas that are holding us back in our comfort zone.

Nile Felucca

I'm creating a drawing a day for the art of it.

Nile felucca
These graceful little boats with their asymmetrical sails litter the Nile's banks, competing for space with house boats and hotel balconies.
I took one from Luxor to Banana island, it seemed like easy sailing over very smooth water but the men who sail these boats must know the strange currents in such a big, shifting river.
They make you tea on board, with a tiny gas stove, in a shot glass and medicinally sweet!
Out on the more than a mile wide river it's cool, the only cool outdoor place I experienced in Egypt. When you get to Banana island it's hot again. But as the island is thickly forested with banana trees, it's a shadowy hot unknown on the banks of the Nile, which are cultivated or bare but not thick with trees usually.
You get tiny bananas to eat, a hand span long and sweet, really sweet!
Egypt is a treasure, I loved it, and despite any Egyptology you may have studied, I challenge you to stand under the columns of the template at Karnak and not believe aliens helped build it!
