Sometimes drawings I'm not too excited about get a lot of attention, sometimes I really like something and it goes unsung. It's very interesting to me.

As I'm not doing it for a client, the do not have to all be successful, this is interesting because I have started drawing all sorts of things outside my comfort zone. I'm good at landscapes, flowers, boats, buildings and patters and colours. I'm not good at people or fantasy art. But because I'm allowed to do some poor ones (like the one a couple of days ago) I can try these things out.

I'm a textile designer and some subjects, for example birds, really lend themselves to textiles, another interesting thing about doing a drawing a day for fun is I'm drawing all sorts of things that so don't belong on bedding or wall paper and then thinking of ways that they might!

Today's is a bird, no doubt someone will tell me what kind. I love birds but I was scared of being labeled a bird watcher as a teen-ager so I didn't listen when my dad taught me all about them. I was seldom a sullen teenager, but you have to draw the line somewhere.

Today's is my aunt's balcony, where she grows a mini jungle and has a lovely view of the sea and Georgian buildings I think.

Today's is two cocks facing off. They will make up their minds who is boss and then one will go elsewhere. Without people forcing them most animals prefer to avoid a fight.

Someone asked me yesterday what I get out of it, so here is the answer.

I practice my drawing and it gets better.
I get a little me time each day, which it can be hard for mummys to get.
I feel good when my friends say it brightens their lives.
I collect a body of work I could use for somthing.
I often start tired and just wanting to eat cake and watch Netflix and end feeling good and involved in my art.
Mostly I just don't want to to say on my headstone "she kept up with Netflix and bbc iplayer."
