I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it, and sharing an art tip too.
Today's drawing is a seascape.
Today's tip is: semetrical is usually not best, put things in groups of three and five(whole objects or just dark parts of a whole). Put horizons in any part of the page that is not the middle.

Boat on a grey sea
I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it, and sharing an art tip too.
Today's drawing is a boat on a grey sea. I use only tone, if you have trouble with colour, you can do this to cut back the problem, but if you come back to colour, here is a tip to help.
Today's tip: This is the colour wheel, (picture underneath) the colour is arranged in the order of the rainbow or natural spectrum. Colours next to each other go together restfully, colours at opposite sides make each other look brighter and are called complimentary colours.

Scotland, mountains and sea, stories and secrets.
I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it, and sharing an art tip too.
Today's drawing is Scotland, mountains and sea.
Today's art tip: Examine all conventions for your self. In art, as in life, some conventions are there because they work well, for example: windows looking dark in the distance, or top lip darker than bottom lip, others are perhaps obsolete, or false to begin with, example: brown tree trunks (they are usually silver, grey, green or black). Use your own looking skills, they are the true gift an artist brings the world.

Yesterday's daffodils
I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.
Yesterday I drew these and didn't share due to technical issues with my tablet and my laptop! Argh! Now I have a new tablet and my laptop is in the computer shop, so should be OK soon.
I have also included a better picture of my fish drawing as I had tech issues when I shared that. #drawingadayclub

Comino, Malta
This is the island of Comino, off the coast of Malta. There are no shops or houses, just rocks and beach. You take a picnic and a boat drops you for the day. When I went I lost a sandal in the med, of the front of the boat. A big wave just sucked it right off my foot which was hanging off the side of the boat. but I didn't need it all day. #drawingadayclub

Abu Dhabi, escape British February!
This is Abu Dhabi. It's so so so hot you think your standing in the blast from a jet engine the whole day long! I got a real fright when a fish nibbled my foot! Those foot spas you get...I was not paid up or ready, and I nearly jumped clean out of two meters of water warmer than your last sauna! I'm thinking of doing a whole set of beaches I wish I was back at instead of in Britain in February! #drawingadayclub #kirsteenlyons #kirsteenlyonsart

Great ocean road
I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.
Today's is the great ocean road, Victoria, Australia.
I've drawn a lot of beautiful places I've been but this one is on my wish list. I've been to Melbourne and Sydney but didn't have time to do this. Where is on your wish list and why? #drawingadayclub

Wave
I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.
Today's is a wave. As a kid I was mesmerised by the waves in Asterix and Obelix, then as a young woman I found Hakusai prints on a gallery in Munich and stood transfixed so long they began to wonder if I was researching for a heist! Four years living on the coast did not satisfy my fascination with each and every breaker! #drawingadayclub

Mermaid from the undersea picture my daughter and I drew together.
I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.
My daughter and I like to draw together, we get a huge piece of paper and draw a line down the middle, then we decide on a common theme and each do half.

We are going looking for this beach in 2019!
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's is a beach on the Adriatic coat so it's firmly on the planned route for our year long trip round Europe.
Reasons to get rid of our stuff, make our jobs portable, and explore Europe in a camper!
Meet new people.
More ocean in my life.
More mountains.
More time outside.
Draw and paint from life.
Learn new skills.
Learn languages.
Inspiration from new stimulus.
Teach my kids to be self reliant.
Educate my kids with doing and looking, not just listening and writing down.
Spend less than we make.
Less cooking (a little).
Less cleaning.
Less to regret missing when old.
Stay active/ fit.
Be more like my heroes.
Get out of repetitive lifestyle.
Quality time with my family.
The kids spend lots of time away from screens and wifi.
We collect adventures not clutter.
Easier to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables, salad and fish.
Shed middle class suburban ideas that are holding us back in our comfort zone.

Rays
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's is a group of rays. I like to tell anyone who will listen that I've seen these in the wild off the coast of Australia. They are so sure of themselves - wolves of the sea!

Mother's beach, Mornington, Melbourne, Australia
I'm creating a drawing a day for a year, just for the art of it.
Today's is mother's beach (so called because it is sheltered, and slopes out very gently). The little town of Mornington is Victorian, Australian style, so it looks like an American old west town, painted in Brighton beach hut colours! We found many many starfish. Jasmine and I love this spot.

Seaturtle
I'm creating a drawing a day for the art of it.
Today's is a seaturtle.
I like these guys. They get killed by plastic bags getting washed down waterways to the sea. Then sea currents collect them on beaches and in "islands" of rubbish. We now have a collection of litter in the pacific about the size of Texas! Last year my new years resolution was to use less bags, this year we have a bag tax in the UK helping me remember but it still takes some doing.
