Feather, flower, whatever

I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it, and sharing an art tip too.
Today's drawing is a_________.
Today's tip: You don't have to interpret your work for people. They can make up their own minds. If it needs a label to make any sense at all, you failed to communicate anything with the actual artwork. I realise that I just threw the whole school of conceptual art out with that comment, I don't care, you can tell them where I live, I'm ready!
 (In conceptual art the concept is so much more important than the art that the art can even be made by some else and often is, most of it cannot be understood at all without the labels. Most of the Turner Prize stuff is conceptual art.).

Europe in a camper van and I'm 40 today!

I'm creating a drawing a day, for two years, just for the art of it.
Today is my birthday and I'm 40, I chose to draw what I hope will be one of the next big adventures, I can of course photograph and draw from all I see, I hope to design wonderful textiles inspired by the culture and colour of so many new places, wish me the courage and organisation to really do it!

Tree

Today's is a tree. I have been designing textiles again today, with every spare minute, and was completely without inspiration, but my brother said "do a tree" and I find I quite like it.

Day 379 Repeated poppies

I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.
Today's is a repeating design of poppies. There is a lot of computer technology and heavy machinery goes into the design and manufacture of printed textiles these days but it all does a faster neater version of what I did here by hand.

Pinching my daughter's art materials again!

I'm creating a drawing a day, just for the art of it.
Today's is a flower done with Windsor and Newton water colour markers (that my daughter got for Christmas) and a bit of white acrylic. It's not at all British to say this but I'm really pleased with this one, although as a textile designer I'm right in my comfort zone with flowers. #drawingadayclub

Today's is a sketch of a young woman. Water soluble pencils form the inestimable Derwent, first time I've used them with water (rather than just as a pencil) and it's love at first draw!

Today's are the flowers my husband got me for getting signed with a new design studio, it could be very cyclic as they will probably get used in a textile design!

This one is done in my tiny sketch book that comes - in my handbag - to London, Brighton, coffee shops etc.
